Social Networks, well now theres even more.

With myspace.com , facebook.com , and flickr.com at the top of the social networking ladder and numerous other websites offering the same or similiar there is alot on offer. Getting sick of the new cool site where you can talk to your friends for a month then "every one " didcovers a new site and we all "migrate" to the next cool thing? And whats so cool about this any way, where have all my friends gone, most of which you have never met in real life any way. Well a website, www.behance.net , thats currently in beta stage IS the next cool thing and heres why:

Its a network of creatives, designed to, well, network, portfolios are uploaded work is critiqued, comments are made, collaborations are done with people on the other side of the world. Sounds like fun! Right now its an invite only kinda thing which is what makes it super cool haha, but if you submit some works and give a little description of yourself you too can be in on the deal.

hands

A simple illustration of different peoples hands in different gestures, hands are symbolic of each persons nature and tell alot about ourselves, they move and jitter, shake and tremour, hold and throw. They reveal who we are even when we are hiding.

A sketch about crime....

just a sketch i did while waiting for some work to render. ive been out in town now for the last month and every time ive been out ive witnessed or been part of crime. every time! Long Street is getting really bad, theres a lot of stuff going on there, and its in open site. well this is just some thing a little funny bout the whole situation. Something else thats quite funny, if one had to try put up some art on Longstreet you get harassed by atleast 20 police and 3 cop vans, youd be totally surrounded in about 5 minutes. But some how crime, real crime goes on like knowbody cares.

newest illustration.

Ha, Ive added some colour. though i might as well, i clothed her up a bit cos i dont want her to seem slutty. The loveme girls are not slutty, I try and show a raw beauty, they seem typically sexy but they are asking to be loved, i try and convey an innocence in these girls, especially when these are put up in the streets.

Some more illustrations

Recent illustrations and ideas for some animation work i want to do. Some are vector styled scanned and photoshopped while others are rough sketches multiplied over a scan of my sketch book. i really love the loveme girls, i can draw them for hours. The first girls i started drawing were ALL done large format, about 120x40cm i never sketched them small. just straight on the paper, this really helped develop the form and i wasnt lost in all the details. Now days i do alot more sketching in my books, i can doodle on them for hours adding highlights and colouring, and putting in little details.

Some work done in Cape Town by artist loveme. Street art. Pasted paper, instalations, stencils and stickers. Art that is free, reclamation of the streets, using public space and making art accsessible to everyone. social commentary or political statements, or an uplifting message are what its usually about. Giving any one walking by some  sort of message.  I will be posting more pics about street art and explainging it in more detail soon. this is my first post. well.
